On Saturday, February 7, India locked horns against USA in match 3 of T20 World Cup 2026. It is the second match of group A as Pakistan and Netherlands played the first match of this group.
Suryakumar Yadav and Monank Patel walked for the toss. Talking about the coin flip, the luck favoured USA captain, who invited India to bat first. Notably, Surya, despite losing the toss remarked that they would have preferred to bat first only.
For India, they have dealt a heavy blow as Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the playing XI because of viral fever. Nonetheless, Mohammed Siraj has replaced him. Further, Sanju Samson and Washington Sundar are also not part of the playing XI, which means that Ishan Kishan will open the innings with Abhishek Sharma.
For USA, they have gone ahead with six batters and five proper bowlers. Even during the toss, Monank praised the track, justifying his decision to opt for the mammoth task to chase a total against India that too in Mumbai.

India vs USA T20 World Cup 2026: Captains Thoughts
Suryakumar Yadav: "No, we were actually looking to bat first! The wicket looks good here. I have played a lot of cricket here. The wind is blowing. I don't think there would be any dew tonight. We were here for a practice session last night. We have Washington Sundar and Sanju Samson missing out. Unfortunately, Bumrah is not well. Siraj is coming in."
Monank Patel: "We are going to bowl first. It looks a really good surface. It's a high scoring ground and once we know the target, it's going to be easy for us to plan it out. Firstly, it's a great feeling to be here in Wankhede. World Cup is one of the biggest stage in world sports and we carry lot of expectations and hopes back in USA. We want to give our best in this tournament."
