Milestone
Time for us to conclude the coverage from the 8th match of the Pakistan Super League 2026. Hyderabad Kingsmen got a massive total of 225 on the board on the back of two fifties from Maaz Sadaqat and Sharjeel Khan. But a scintillating hundred from Sahibzada Farhan completely outclassed the Kingsmen and his unbeaten 106* propelled Multan Sultans to a thumping victory by 6 wickets and with 8 balls remaining.

For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Dev Rajawat and Manan Mehta, the scorer/analyst of this game Zeeshan Naiyer and the statistician Aman. Good night.
Ashton Turner (Multan Sultans Captain): "(Thoughts on chasing 226) Yeah you are right and we have crossed the first 2 games with contributions from everyone. We will take a lot of confidence from this win.

(Thoughts on the bowlers going for runs) You always need the context of both innings to judge the wicket. We agree that we are not perfect. So, we need to learn from the first half of the game and come back stronger. In the second innings we understand that we can cut the bowlers a bit of slack.

(Thoughts on Sahibzada Farhan) This is the best part of these leagues around the world. You get to see such class acts and Farhan is one of them. He is not the only one. There are many talented cricketers in this country and yeah, it is great to share space with them.

(Enjoying the Captaincy gig?) Enjoying the event so far. The coaching group and the support staff, we all are in it together, supporting each other from time to time. That is what helps in a tournament, and I hope it continues the same way."
Marnus Labuschagne (Hyderabad Kingsmen Captain): "(What went wrong? Was batting first a good thing?) Yes or no. When you get 225 on the board, you feel confident. That is defendable. They batted beautifully. Openers got off to a perfect start.

(On the fielding lapses) I mean we just couldn't take over the chances. We set out the come back in the tournament. Maaz and Saim were brilliant at the top order. They set the tone at the top order. Then Sharjeel came in at the middle order and got a fifty. Usman as well. Really proud of them. Even Mohammad Ali too. He bowled well.

(On the conditions' difference in Karachi) That's our last game here and so we will move to Karachi for the next games. We probably could have looked at a few things. There are things that you can retrospect. I think sticking to the skill and basics will help.

(On the plus points from this game) I think there are a lot of positives. I am proud of the effort boys put in. Result didn't go our way. It is a long tournament and we will come back stronger."
Sahibzada Farhan (Player of the Match): (On his outstanding innings and form) “It felt like the pitch was very good right from the first innings. The way Maaz Sadaqat and Saim Ayub started, it was clear that the wicket was excellent. The key for me was to convert it into a big innings, and the work I’ve been doing in domestic and international cricket helped me here.

(On converting fifties into big scores and hundreds) When I get to 50 or 60, I try not to throw it away. If you look at players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, they score big hundreds consistently. It’s about spending time on the wicket and controlling your body and shot selection, even when you’re timing the ball well.

(On handling pressure in the 70s and 80s) You have to stay calm and keep control. Even if the ball is coming nicely onto the bat, you need to manage your body and stay focused to carry the innings forward.

(On his form with a new franchise, Multan Sultans) It doesn’t feel like a new franchise at all. The owner and management are very supportive, and it feels like a family environment. That support helps a lot, and I’m trying to win more matches for Multan Sultans.

(On his approach moving forward) This hundred is important, but I want to score more big runs. I’m not fully satisfied yet and want to keep improving.”
Player of the Match: Sahibzada Farhan (106 Not Out off 57 Balls). He also receives the Hanif Mohammad Cap!
Catch of the Match: Marnus Labuschagne (to dismiss Josh Philippe)
Superpower of the Match: Steve Smith (46 off 20 balls)
Energetic Batter of the Match: Maaz Sadaqat (62 off 26 balls)
Moment of the Match: Sahibzada Farhan (9th T20 Hundred)
