T20I, the shortest format of the game, with an age of just over 21 years, has emerged as a format where an over can change the entire course of the game. Meanwhile, having the wicket-taking bowlers, who can produce match-winning spells in tough situations in this format, is no less than a blessing for a team.
Speaking from India’s perspective, there have been a few bowlers who have left an impressive mark on the team’s 19-year journey in the shortest format of the game.
That said, here, we’ll have a look at the top 10 Indian bowlers with the most T20I wickets since India played their first ever T20I game in December 2006.
Top 10 Indian bowlers with most T20I wickets till January 2026
Arshdeep Singh (2022-Present) - 111 T20I wickets
The left-arm pacer, Arshdeep Singh, has been one of the leading wicket-takers for India in the T20Is. In his T20I career of just four years from 2022 till now, Arshdeep Singh has left everyone awestruck with his rise as the number one bowler for India in this format.
He has scalped 111 wickets in 73 innings of the 74 T20Is he has played. Arshdeep has picked these wickets with an economy rate of 8.47 and a strike rate of 13.8, including two four-wicket hauls.
Jasprit Bumrah (2016-Present) - 106 T20I wickets
The star pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as a frontline pacer for India in the T20Is, especially in the last decade. Since his debut in 2016, Bumrah has featured in 85 T20Is for India, taking 106 wickets in 82 innings at a decent economy rate of 6.40.
It also includes his best figures of ‘three wickets for just seven runs in a match’. Bumrah ranks second in the list of top 10 Indian bowlers with the most T20I wickets.
Hardik Pandya (2016-Present) - 105 T20I wickets
The swashbuckling all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, has been a vital asset for Team India in the shortest format of the game. He has produced some sensational performances both with the bat and the ball in his 10-year T20I career since making his debut in 2016.
Pandya is placed at the third spot in the list of leading wicket-takers of all time in T20Is for India. He has claimed 105 wickets in 115 innings of the 127 games he has played. In these appearances, he has also bagged three four-wicket hauls.
Notably, Pandya is just one wicket away from equalling Jasprit Bumrah in this list and two from surpassing the latter to become the second leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is.
Yuzvendra Chahal (2016-2023) - 96 T20I wickets
The star leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, last played a T20I for India in 2023 and has been out of action since then. However, he is still fourth among the leading wicket-takers of all time in T20Is for India. Chahal had played 80 T20Is till his last appearance in 2023.
The Haryana-born leggie has scalped 96 wickets in 79 innings, with an economy rate of 8.19, including two four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul.
Kuldeep Yadav (2017-Present) - 92 T20I wickets
One of the most lethal weapons in India’s spin arsenal, Kuldeep Yadav, is currently active for India in the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand. He is also in India’s plans for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. He ranks fifth among the top 10 Indian bowlers with the most T20I wickets
Kuldeep has been one of the ‘keys to success’ for India in the shortest format of the game in the 52 T20Is he has played for India so far. In these games, the left-arm wrist spinner has picked 92 wickets in 50 innings, with an economy rate of 6.92, picking three four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2012-2022) - 90 T20I Wickets
The veteran pacer known for his mastery in swinging the deliveries, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, has not been part of India’s T20I plans since 2022. However, one cannot forget Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s contributions to Indian cricket in the modern format of the game.
In his active 10-year T20I stint for India, Bhuvi played 87 T20Is, picking 90 wickets in 86 innings, including three four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls. It included his best figures of ‘five wickets for just four runs in a match’, the best-ever five-wicket haul by an Indian bowler in T20Is.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is placed at the sixth spot in the list of the leading wicket-takers of all time in T20Is for India.
Axar Patel (2015-Present) - 83 T20I wickets
The star all-rounder, Axar Patel, was one of the vital cogs in the wheel in India’s title-winning run in the T20 World Cup 2024. Besides that, he is an important member of India’s plans for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup starting next month.
Axar has played 86 T20Is, picking 83 wickets in 80 innings, with an economy rate of 7.31, including the best figures of ‘three wickets for just nine runs in a match’. He is seventh in the list of top 10 Indian bowlers with the most T20I wickets.
Ravichandran Ashwin (2010-2022) - 72 T20I wickets
The former Test bowling great, Ravichandran Ashwin, was also one of the key contributors with the ball in the T20Is for India. He played 65 T20Is for India and bowled in all appearances.
He claimed 72 wickets in 65 innings, with a good economy rate of 6.90, picking two four-wicket hauls. He is ranked eighth in the list of top 10 Indian bowlers with the most T20I wickets.
Ravi Bishnoi (2022-Present) - 63 T20I wickets
The 25-year-old leg-spinner, Ravi Bishnoi, has played 43 T20Is for India since his debut in 2022. He has claimed 63 wickets in 43 innings, with an economy rate of 7.28, including two four-wicket hauls.
Bishnoi is ninth in the list of leading wicket-takers of all time in T20Is for India. He is also active for India in the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
Varun Chakravarthy (2021-Present) - 58 T20I wickets
Varun Chakravarthy has been one of the star performers with the ball for India in the limited-overs cricket, be it in the ODIs or in the T20Is. He is also included in India’s plans for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026.
He has played 35 T20Is for India, taking 58 wickets in 33 innings at an economy rate of 7.09, including one four-wicket haul and two five-wicket hauls. He is placed 10th among the leading wicket-takers of all time in T20Is for India.
