Thatās all from this contest, folks! Stay tuned to our network for more exciting cricketing action from around the world. For now, itās me, Deepak Prakash, signing off on behalf of scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. Cheers!
David Wiese (POTM & Brampton Blitz Captain): "Yeah, definitely. It was a bit of a scrap today. We werenāt as clinical as weād like to be, but you need games like these in a tournament ā they test your character and help you prepare for the later stages.
Iām happy with the way weāre playing at the moment, but the jobās not done yet. In T10 cricket, things can change very quickly ā itās anyoneās game ā so itās important to keep doing the basics right, maintain momentum, and hopefully carry this form through the next few games. The key thing to remember is that the bowler is under just as much pressure as you are, especially in this format and on this ground. Even if there are one or two dot balls, I focus on how many boundaries I need in an over.
Once you get those, you can play your normal shots in between. Sometimes it doesnāt come off, but staying calm, knowing your options, and sticking to your game plan rather than trying to fight fire with fire often brings success."
Player of the Match: David Wiese
Dwaine Pretorius (Vancouver Kings Captain): "It was a good bowling performance from our side, and we pushed the game as far as we could. An unbelievable knock from Wiese turned the tide. I think we were about 20 runs short, and my run-out proved to be a crucial moment. Weāll look to bounce back strongly in the next game. Overall, good bowling performance from our bowlers."
Time for the post-match presentation.....
12:51 PM IST, 12:21 AM Local Time: David Wiese finishes things off in style with a scintillating knock, guiding Brampton Blitz to a 6-wicket win. They extend their winning streak to three matches and secure their place in the semifinals.
Earlier, Vancouver Kings have posted 111/8 in 10 overs, thanks to a fiery 40 off 16 balls from skipper Dwaine Pretorius, who smashed three fours and four sixes to lift his side after a shaky start. Nauman Anwar also played a brisk knock of 28 off 14 deliveries, giving early impetus before the Kings lost momentum in the middle overs. For the Brampton Blitz, David Wiese led the bowling attack brilliantly, returning figures of 3 for 7 from his two overs, while Piyush Chawla and Dilon Heyliger picked up two wickets each. The chase began on a poor note as Will Smeed and James Vince departed early, leaving the Blitz reeling at 16/2. Alex Davies tried to counterattack but couldnāt last long, while Martin Guptillās dismissal for 4 left the side struggling at 29/4 within four overs. However, from there, it was the David Wiese show. The veteran all-rounder launched a stunning counter-assault, smashing the bowlers to all parts of the ground. Wiese remained unbeaten on 62 off just 27 balls, hammering five fours and six massive sixes, and completely turning the momentum in Blitzās favor. He found an able partner in Yuvraj Samra, who played a brisk 19* off 10 balls, ensuring the duo added a match-winning stand to finish the chase with ease. For Vancouver Kings, McKenny Clarke was the standout bowler, delivering a fiery spell of 2-0-7-3, dismantling the top order early on. However, the rest of the attack couldnāt contain Wieseās onslaught, as Blitz cruised home with eight balls to spare.
