That was quick then! The Melbourne Renegades won the big Melbourne vs Sydney clash rather easily away from home. They have put a massive dent on the NRR of their opposition and have boosted their own numbers!
This brings us to the conclusion of the live coverage of this clash. I, Manan Mehta on behalf of my co-commentator Arjun Bhalla would like to take your leave. A big shout out to our scorer/analyst Bishal Mandal as well!
Alice Capsey (POTM): "Yeah, I thought the surface was good for batting out there. It was striking very nicely. I thought it would be better to have fun with it. Amazing to pick two points here, and head back home to Junction next week. I am pretty happy.
I felt a bit scratchy, to be honest, but we kind of wanted to play an aggressive brand of cricket. In low-scoring games, it can sometimes get tricky with the ball sticking when bowled on the stumps. But yeah, we spoke about taking that positive option and putting ourselves ahead in this game, and finishing it off really quickly.
She (Issy Wong) has been amazing around the group. It's never easy being the fourth overseas player and sitting on the bench. But the energy she has brought, I mean, her energy that she is amazing. She has fit perfectly into this group. Umm, like you said, everyone got around her, and it was a lot buzzing for her. I think she bowled especially well. Everyone did their job out there, restricting the team to 65 there. So yeah, it was a great day out!
Yeah, obviously, we are going back home (Melbourne). It is always nice out there, would look for some good home support. The big girls will have their families and friends there, which is always nice. Pretty nice to play in front of the home crowd. Thank you!"
Player of the Match: Alice Capsey
6:41 AM IST and 12:11 PM Local Time: That took a tad bit more time and effort than expected but the Melbourne Renegades eventually got over the line. They were superb with the ball in the first innings and made an absolute mockery of the home side.
They put the Thunder to a test of spin after putting them into bat first. The wicket was not a straightforward one and the Thunder crumbled big time to the spin of the Renegades Apart from Heather Knight's 20, no one got to double figures.
The pick of the bowlers for the Renegades was Georgia Wareham with her 3-12! Charis Bekker bowled beautifully for her 2-14 in four overs. The Thunder were bowled out for a massively below par 64!The third lowest ever WBBL total.
One would have expected the chase to be a breezy one. It wasn't though initially. Emma de Broughe was stuck in a puddle out there as she struggled her way to a 22 ball 8! Courtney Webb too was outfoxed for just 4!
However, stumbling initially, it took captain Sophie Molineux and experienced Alice Capseyto bring calm to the storm and chase this small total down. Molineux took her time initially but once she got the pace off the wicket, she started scoring boundaries at will! Capsey too got a few away in the end. Molineux ended with 29* and Capsey with 24*. It is a massive win for the Renegades as they win by 8 wickets and with 53 balls left!

4 FOURRRRR!! Capsey with the winning boundary! The Renegades get over the line. They have chased down the target of 65 runs with so much ease. Coming to the delivery. Voll from over the wicket. Bowls a flatter, fuller length ball well outside the off-stump. Capsey waits for it and plays a reverse scoop past the keeper for a boundary at third! The Renegades go over the line with 53 balls to go as Melbourne win it by eight wickets.
11 off the Gill over! The Renegades are just one run away now!

3 Slower in the air, too full and well outside the off-stump. Capsey reverses to the third area for a triple. Scores are levelled!
