Milestone
That brings an end to our coverage of this game. Keep joining us for more cricketing action all around the globe. For now, this is me, Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash, statistician Aman and scorer Paras Yadav. Until next time, cheers and good bye.
Mitchell Santner (New Zealand Captain): “It was a great team performance. Obviously that partnership between Robinson and Jacobs was special. South African put us under pressure and we knew we had to pick wickets. We picked up regular wickets and put them under pressure.

We were thinking 150-160. But you saw that once you got in, you can capitalize. Once you get in, it was easy to get going."
Tim Robinson (Player of the Match): "Obviously, feels great. To contribute to the win is always special. We got off to a rough start but to put a partnership with Jacobs was good.

Credit to the Proteas bowlers for the way they bowled upfront. Me and Jacobs were talking about taking it deep and the ball certainly flies here.

It was a good surface. I think the South Africans used their big side very well. It was difficult to start. But as you get in, it was easy to get going."
Player of the Match: Tim Robinson
Rassie van der Dussen (South Africa Captain): “They put us under pressure. Still feel the bowlers did a good job to keep them to 170. With the bat, we couldn’t get it together.

There is a certain way we want to play. You have to take the rough with the smooth. That’s why this series is there to try different plans and different guys.

Just using the boundaries shortly. It’s often difficult to defend both sides. It’s not a good batting performance. But it’s okay. We tried a few things and we will keep trying till we get it right.

Senuran was brilliant. There wasn’t spin really for him. He’s a skillful bowler and he got a good run and it was easy for me to just bowl him through."
7:50 PM IST, 4:20 PM Local Time: That's it. New Zealand start their T20I Tri-Series with a win. A convincing victory for them in their series opener as they beat South Africa by 22 runs. The Proteas suffer their first defeat in the series after getting off to a winning start the other day.

Chasing 174, Lhuan-dre Pretorius scored a 17-ball 27 at the top of the order before edging one to the keeper in the fourth over. Rubin Hermann (1), Reeza Hendricks (16), debutant Senuran Muthusamy (7) and skipper Rassie van der Dussen (6) were sent packing in a quick succession as the Proteas were reduced to 62/5 in the ninth over.

Dewald Brevis came out all guns blazing at six and played a brilliant cameo of 18-ball 35 before holing out in the deep in the 12th over. George Linde hit some lusty blows and kept his side in the hunt. He joined hands with Gerald Coetzee to take the game deep. Both put 37 between them before Linde fell on 30 in the 18th over.

New Zealand did well to wrap up the game quickly as Coetzee was the final batter to fall in the run-chase. He departed on 17 as South Africa got knocked over on 152 in 18.2 overs to lose the game by 22 runs. Matt Henry (3/34) and Jacob Duffy (3/20) picked up three scalps each for the BlackCaps. Ish Sodhi (2/34) also chipped in with two as they defended the total successfully.

Earlier, New Zealand were inserted into bat. Openers Tim Seifert (22) and Devon Conway (9) got starts but failed to carry on as both departed inside the powerplay. Tim Robinson at three held the innings nicely, despite losing partners at the other end. It was a mini-collapse as Daryl Mitchell (5), Mitchell Hay (2) and Jimmy Neesham (0) failed to make an impact.

Robinson received an excellent support from debutant Bevon-John Jacobs as both built a solid partnership for the sixth wicket. The unbeaten 103-run stand powered New Zealand to 173/5. A fantastic recovery after they were reeling at 70/5 in the 10th over. Robinson and Jacobs remained unbeaten on 75 and 44 respectively. The Proteas picked up five wickets, with Kwena Maphaka (2/38) picking up two of those. The batters then faltered and got bundled out on 152.

Stick around for the post-match presentation.
