Milestone
So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj, my co-commentator, Anirudh Modi and our scorer for this match, Sahil Khan. Do stay tuned to our coverage of the MLC game between San Francisco Unicorns and Los Angeles Knight Riders. There are several other cricket matches lined up on Sunday as well. Don't miss out on those.
Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa Captain):  " (Best part about the game) Probably to get to 310 from where we were. The massive partnership between Nondu (Nondumiso Shangase) and Sune Luus was pleasing to see. Yeah, so good. Nondu was amazing with the bat. The intent she showed and got us out of trouble. And obviously the lefty (Nonkululeko Mlaba), she is very reliable.

(On 7 batters scoring 25-plus today for SA) Good stat, it means everyone is chipping in. We are still searching for the perfect game where everyone contributes. (How far SA are from a perfect game) Still pretty far I would say. Obviously, the middle and lower order were great. They also got too many I feel, could have restricted them to lesser. Yeah look, it wasn't our best work today. It was a slow start, we will reflect on how to take advantage of the Powerplay."
Hayley Matthews (West Indies Captain): "We started off pretty well.  We were able to apply a lot of pressure on South Africa during the first 10-15 overs. Then, we weren't able to execute our defensive skills. We take a lot of positives from the batting effort. Chasing 310 was obviously going to be very tough but getting to 260 with a lot of contributors was nice to see.

South Africa's two opening batters are very experienced. What has been good for us is that they haven't gotten away in the Powerplay. I think we were really good in areas and periods today. We need to do that for longer. Try to restrict them to lesser in the next match."
Sune Luus (Player of the Match): "Very important and it was great to contribute to the team. We were in a tough spot and I was thinking to build a good partnership and to a good total was important.

We had a target with the bat and whenever new batters came in, I told we need to bat towards that. It's just about adapting to the situation and getting to the 40th over and with players like Nadine, Tryon, we have who can take the game away.

It was a good wicket to bat on and it was going to be difficult to defend against a batting lineup like theirs but it was important to bat the way we did and notch up the total that we did."

Time for the post-match presentation ceremony..

02:43 AM IST, 05:13 PM Local Time: A fine performance from South Africa as they register a 40-run victory against the West Indies to level the series 1-1. The visitors took this game as an opportunity to experiment with their bowlers and still ended up comfortable victors.

Chasing 310 for victory, the West Indies needed a big start and the opening pair of Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph seemed fluent from the beginning. However, Marizanne Kapp struck in the 7th over as the umpire adjudged Qiana Joseph to be caught behind even though the batter didn’t agree with the decision.

No.3 batter, Realeanna Grimmond played a few elegant drives as she began to stitch a partnership with the skipper Matthews. But she flattered to deceive as Nadine de Klerk had her caught behind in the 14th over. The run-rate took a dip after that as Stafanie Taylor consumed a lot of dot balls. Meanwhile, Hayley got to her fifty in the 16th over and she had the onus of batting long.

Yet, the introduction of Nonkululeko Mlaba worked the magic for South Africa as Hayley pulled a length delivery to Nondumiso Shangase at mid-on. A few overs later, Stafanie also miscued an attempted pull shot to short mid-wicket as the West Indies were reduced to 120/4.  Thereafter, the experienced pair of Shemaine Campbelle and Chinelle Henry rebuilt the innings at a pretty rate to keep the team just alive.

The 50-run partnership was also brought up before Chinelle played an uppish cut to backward point where Annerie Dercksen took a sharp catch to give Nondumiso Shangase a wicket. With Laura Wolvaardt rotating the bowlers, Shemaine and Jannillea Glasgow got a few scoring opportunities as the scorecard kept ticking.

The wicket-keeper batter, Shemaine also registered her fifty off 55 balls in the 41st over. Mlaba once again struck at the end of the over though as Jannillea chipped a full and slow delivery to Wolvaardt at short extra-cover. In the next over, Kapp also induced a top-edge from Shemaine as the fielder at short fine-leg gobbled up a straight-forward catch. Mlaba also continued to showcase her quality by having Aaliyah Alleyne caught behind for her fourth wicket.

The remainder of the game was a mere formality with Zaida James getting 19 runs before she was dismissed by Chloe Tryon in the penultimate over of the match. In the end, the West Indies were rolled over for 269 on the final ball of the innings to end up on the losing side by 40 runs.
