So that marks the end of our coverage of the 2nd match of the ongoing PSL 2025 between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. Quetta-based franchise has shown their dominance and won the game comfortably. Now another exciting encounter awaits us in about an hour. Do join us for that game.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my colleagues Arjun Bhalla, Deepak Prakash and Bishal Mandal.
Saud Shakeel (Quetta Gladiators Captain):"I think the way we started the in innings gave us the momentum. We batted well. The way Kusal Mendis and Rilee Rossouw finished mattered the most. The pitch was not that good but the batting was really well. Our bowlers did well. I'm happy with the way our bowlers performed.
We have nothing to tell Amir bhai, Jamieson, Abrar what to do. That makes the work really easy. I think I am batting well and I want to take the game deep and play more big innings."
Abrar Ahmed (Player of the Match): "Thank you! Iāve taken quite a few caught and bowled wickets (chuckles). We bowled well in the powerplay. The skipper asked me to focus on taking wickets, regardless of the runs conceded, and I think we maintained good discipline during that phase. Our batting line-up is packed with talent, we have great depth in our bowling, and the overall combination of the team feels really special."
Player of the Match: Abrar Ahmed
Super Power of the Day: Kusal Mendis
Energetic Batter of the Match: Finn Allen
Moment of the Match: Mohammad Amir
Time for the post-match presentations.
Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi Captain): "I think we failed to execute our plans. The first six overs in both innings proved to be crucial, and we lost momentum during those phases.
The pitch behaved a bit differently in the second innings and kept a bit low at times. Itās not an excuse, the lack of partnerships and regular fall of wickets hurt us.
Saimās knock was outstandingāheās definitely going to be a key player for Peshawar Zalmi this season. Having someone like Inzamam as a mentor is invaluable; he shares his wealth of experience, and the youngsters are eager to learn from him."
