So that marks the end of the series between Zimbabwe and Ireland. Ireland started the tour on a good note by winning the Test match but the hosts dominated in the white ball games. Zimbabwe won the first and final ODI game of the three-match series to bag the ODI series by 2-1 margin. Then they won the 3-match T20I series by 1-0 margin. First game got washed out, Zimbabwe then won the second game and the rain god had his say in the final game of the series.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Aditya Agarwal and our scorer/analyst Vishnu Verma. Good night.
Sikandar Raza collects the trophy from the Director of the Zimbabwe Cricket Board and he calls his teammates. Now the players are posing for a photograph with the trophy.
Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe Captain) : "I thought Tony has been fantastic. He has played superbly. That is a positive for the country. There are a lot of positives. I think Trevor Gwandu has set the bar high as well. We worked a lot of hard work in last 6-7 months. I think today also we put up a good total on the board.
We can keep working hard. We value our process. Our end goal is to qualify for the T20WC. We have a couple of days off. Then we will shift our minds back in training.
Every time when our chips are down, some or other player has stood up and that been key for us."
Paul Stirling (Ireland Captain):"I think it would've been a really good game. We were on top at times but unfortunately the weather had the final say.
Craig Young has been brilliant for us and has done exceptionally well. Look we came to play cricket after a few days and it is good to play a series. We take a lot of things away from this series.
I have come to Zimbabwe a few times but this time I will roam around the country for sure."
Time for the post-match presentations.
1:18 AM IST and 9:48 PM Local Time | The third and final T20I of the series started after a delay of 50 minutes as it was drizzling in the afternoon. The ground staff took their time and made the ground ready for play. Paul Stirling sent Zimbabwe to bat first after winning the toss.
Zimbabwe were in dire straits as they lost Tadiwanashe Marumani and Wessly Madhevere in quick succession. But Sikandar Raza helped his side by playing a fine knock of 34 runs off 27 balls. He was well accompanied by Brian Bennett who scored 16 runs. But the innings was taken forward by Tony Munyonga and Tashinga Musekiwa. They registered a good partnership and helped their side to go over the 100-run mark. Munyonga got out for 26 and Musekiwa remained unbeaten on 26 to help his side post 142 on the board.
For the Irish brigade, Craig Young and Gareth Delany took 2 wickets each. Matthew Humphreys bowled well in the powerplay and took one wicket. Joshua Little took a wicket.
But just after the completion of the first innings, it started to drizzle. The intensity was not much but it was consistently drizzling. Unfortunately the rain had the final say in this game. Umpires decided that it was impossible to start the game again and they called the game off.
1:07 AM IST and 9:37 PM Local Time | The third and final T20I of the 3-match series between Zimbabwe and Ireland has been abandoned due to rain. Zimbabwe have won the series 1-0 by winning the second T20I by 3 wickets after the first game of the series got washed out.
12:59 AM IST and 9:29 PM Local Time | Nothing new to update. Drizzle might be very light and the covers are firmly in place. The cut-off time for a 5-over run chase is 1:34 AM IST and 10:04 PM Local Time.
12:42 AM IST and 9:12 PM Local Time | As per the live visuals are available, it looks like the drizzle's intensity got a bit lowered. The groundsmen are moving around the cover but they have their raincoats on.
