12:22 PM: Madhya Pradesh become the first semifinalists in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy defeating Saurashtra by 6 wickets at Alur in the quarterfinal!
MP won the toss and opted to bowl first had Saurashtra in a spot of bother in the powerplay but a fantastic unbeaten knock from Chirag Jani (80* off 45) took Saurashtra to a defendable total of 173/7.
Madhya Pradesh openers added 46 runs before Ankur Panwar removed Harsh Gawli in the 6th over. MP had 56/1 on the board at the end of the powerplay with Arpit Gaud scoring 42 in 29 balls before Prerak Mankad had him caught in the deep.
Subhranshu Senapati then added 40 runs for the 3rd wicket alongside Venkatesh Iyer. The former Odisha batter scored 24 off 16 balls before skipper Rajat Patidar hit a handy 28 off 16. His opposite number Jaydev Unadkat snared him in the 18th over with MP needing a further 29 runs.
Harpreet Singh Bhatia joined Iyer at the crease and played a brutal cameo scoring an unbeaten 22 off 9 deliveries hitting a four and 2 sixes. Iyer remained unbeaten himself with 38 in 33 balls hitting a couple of fours and as many sixes.
Chirag Jani also starred with the ball for Saurashtra with 1/27, Unadkat (1/31) had a neat spell with Prerak Mankad (1/20 in 2.3) hobbling off injured in the middle phase. Dharmendra Jadeja was wicketless but conceded only 30 in his 4 overs.
