4:40 PM IST and 3:10 PM Local Time- The Morrisville Samp Army have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat here. They've beaten the UP Nawabs by just 3 runs and it was two incredible overs at the end which sealed the deal for them. The Nawabs will be distraught. They had their skipper Gurbaz set on 60 off just 32 balls but he barely got the strike in the end.
The UP Nawabs started off sedately as they were slow to get off the blocks. The acceleration began from the fourth over as Malan and Gurbaz began to accelerate. The big overs started to come as the run chase got into the middle overs. Gurbaz was singlehandedly taking the game away from the Samp Army.
However the things changed in the floating powerplay as Isuru Udana picked up a wicket and the equation got back in favor of the Samp Army! Imad Wasim followed it up with an excellent over where he gave away only six runs. The UP Nawabs needed 31 runs from the final 18 balls of the match.
It was spin to win for the Samp Army. Their spinners were extremely miserly as they gave away very little in the six overs of spin bowling. The pacers were expensive but towards the end it was the duo of Rohan Mustafa and Amir Hamza who pulled off the unbelievable. Hamza got two wickets to his credit while Udana had the other one.
Spare of thought for Rahmanullah Gurbaz who had the chase in his control till Najibullah Zadran had been dismissed. Fletcher perished soon after and Odean Smith couldn't get bat on ball for the final two deliveries. The games slip away from a team's hand in this format within a matter of minutes and it was the case indeed in this encounter.
