That's it from our coverage of this Global Super League clash between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Hampshire. The Warriors got the win and bagged two crucial points.
For now, this is Ajay Pal Singh signing off on behalf of my colleague Vishnu Verma. Goodbye!
Imran Tahir (Guyana Amazon Warriors Captain): "Look I think we knew we had to grind hard. We came back strong. They had a few big overs, to restrict to 147, we knew it wasn't enough. I think it was a wonderful team performance. Hetmyer played well and Hassan played well down the order. Happy to came out on top in front of home ground.
Look I think he played well. He adjusted well and quickly. He came and we thought he will take his time but he took us by surprise. He played well but then we restricted him, he could have got them to 165 and it would have been tricky.
Every game is an opportunity for us to show the world that we are here to win. We got two days off and will come back strongly."
Chris Wood (Hampshire Captain): "Yeah, we probably were 10 short. 155 would have been a good total. It started to skid on later and we fell short in the end.
We could have potentially gambled against left-handers with our left-arm spinners. We thought we might take it deep but dew came in and it became difficult to bowl.
We have to stop Victoria and get the win in our next match."
Imran Tahir (POTM): "I am pleased with how it came out. The team needed me in that situation and other bowlers around me bowled well.
It is always nice to get wickets. Shan was playing well. His wicket was crucial. It was a typical leg spinner's dismissal so I am happy.
The body is fine, have to do a lot of fitness work. It was my dream to play cricket since childhood and I am happy to be able to perform."
Player of the Match: Imran Tahir
7:57 AM IST & 10:27 PM Local Time: Guyana Amazon Warriors get the win by 4 wickets. Hassan Khan hit the winning runs and this was nearly a clinical performance by the hosts. Roston Chase found form at the right moment and guided the team through the middle overs. Romario Shepherd provided the finishing touches to the chase.
Earlier in the game, Guyana Amazon Warriors restricted Hampshire to 146/6 from their 20 overs thanks to an outstanding spell of spin bowling by their skipper Imran Tahir.
He finished with figures of 3/18 from his four overs. Shan Masood was the lone warrior for Hampshire, scoring 79 off just 54 balls with wickets falling regularly at the other end, he kept the scoreboard moving.
In response, the Warriors lost Kevlon Anderson and Shai Hope in quick succession. Moeen Ali and Shimron Hetmyer took the attack to the bowlers and put the pressure back on Hampshire.
Ali perished on the last ball of powerplay but Roston Chase and Hetmyer then steadied the innings and put the Warriors ahead in the game. They added 39 runs for the fourth wicket before Hetmyer was dismissed by Benny Howell.
Chase the top-scored for the hosts with a knock of 33 off 26. Hassan Khan played a crucial little innings of 27 off 18 while cameos from Gudakesh Motie (16 off 10) and Romario Shepherd (11* off 5) were instrumental in getting the win for the Warriors.
