For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ajay Pal Singh and scorer/analyst Raju Khariya, who brought you all the live action of this thrilling contest. We will meet again. Until then, its cheers!
David Miller (Paarl Royals Captain): "Great start for us. It was a decent score. The way the guys played up front was great to see. Certain areas on the bowling front can be discussed during the team meeting.
But the way the guys batted was brilliant. Lhuan-dre Pretorius is a great talent, and Root is as solid as a rock. Pretorius had a great start in the Under-19 World Cup and then with the Titans; I am very excited to have him.
Root is a true ambassador for the game and a role model for the youngsters. He trains very hard, and it is great to have him hungry for this competition. Hats off to him."
Aiden Markram (Sunrisers Eastern Cape Captain):"Yeah, tough work. Thought we were good today but when you come across that sort of a knock. He blew us out of the park early doors and it was difficult to come back. It was difficult to get back in the game. Root then did his thing, knocking the ball around.
Disappointed to lose, we go back to the training ground and see how we can improve when we get back to Pretoria.
(on his own form and knock) It is nice but never nice when you lose a game. But good to spend some time in the middle.
Things come really quickly. The standard of this competition is really high. Once you get the momentum, it can get easier."
Lhuan-dre Pretorius (POTM): "Yeah, thank you, Mike (Haysman)! Glad to get over the line.
Batting with Joe Root, he calmed things down. He was amazing. I am lost for words. I was getting annoyed facing a couple of dot balls. A lot of credit goes to Root for facing just four dot balls. He gave me enough time.
Nice to get a good start and get the confidence going. I'm not looking too far ahead into the future; I just want to enjoy the weekend."
