Milestone
Phew! That is all we have from a record-breaking T20I fixture in Manchester, with England putting on a sizzling show and dominating South Africa just like they did in the third ODI in Southampton. An innings for ages from Phil Salt and Jos Buttler set up the huge win before their bowlers made merry of the defense, with 304 runs on the board.

The caravan will now move onto Trent Bridge for the thrilling series decider on Sunday. We, the commentary trio of AkshayaKrishna Polya, Pritam Dey and Akshay Bhide, bid adieu to this live coverage along with our scorer Bishal Mandal and statistician Aman. We will meet again. Until then, it is cheers!
Most Fours and Sixes Hit in a T20I Match for Full Member Nations:

81 – South Africa vs West Indies, Centurion, 2023

71 – England vs South Africa, Manchester, 2025, Tonight*

68 – South Africa vs West Indies, Johannesburg, 2015
Harry Brook (England Captain): "Yeah, I'm pretty much lost for words. The start which the two of them gave was just phenomenal.

Me and Jos (Buttler) were standing out there in the 2nd Innings and we were like, nobody can get 300 but with the batting lineup we've got, it's not impossible to reach that number.

Every game is a must win game now for us leading upto the T20 World Cup. Awesome preparations for us. We want to win every single time when we step onto the field.

Yes, there are going to be some tough decisions to be made. We like headaches. There are some phenomenal players out there and we would love to have some debates on that."
Aiden Markram (South Africa Captain): "Yeah, tough night for us. We got it wrong right from the toss. It is on me. Two masterclasses at the top for England. When you are put under that sort of pressure, it is always tough to come back from there. Sometimes, it only lasts six or eight overs. Tonight, it lasted the full 20 overs.

We have to come up with better plans and execute them on Sunday. We will look into some more. You expect good wickets everywhere nowadays. There are world-class players all over the world. If you get into their hot zones, you are going to be hit. You need to have plans in place.

I don't think we'll be training. It has been a busy tour. We'll put some minds together and have a casual conversation over a coffee. It is important as a team to learn from the mistakes, and it's important as a team to never stop learning."
Phil Salt (Player of the Match): "Yeah, that was really good fun. Obviously it was a personal milestone but the fact that we got 300 and then win by such a big margin, you can't really ask for anything more.

Sometimes I want to react according to the ball while sometimes I want to target one bowler. I think everybody that comes here knows that it's a really good batting wicket especially in the powerplay and it will start getting slower as the match progresses. Powerplay is really, really important so I wanted to give my side a really good start.

I might give him (Livingstone) a text. He has got a big day tomorrow."

STATS ATTACK:

- For the first time in men’s T20 cricket, three South African bowlers—Kagiso Rabada (70), Lizaad Williams (62) and Marco Jansen (60)—conceded 60+ runs each in a single innings against England.

- England reached 250 in just 16.2 overs, making it the joint-fastest team 250 in men’s T20Is (where ball-by-ball data is available), equaling Zimbabwe’s effort against Gambia in 2024.

- England reached 200 in 12.1 overs, the second-fastest in men’s T20Is (where ball-by-ball data is available), behind Turkey’s 11.5 overs against Bulgaria earlier in 2025. The fastest team 200 in all men’s T20s is 10.5 overs by Baroda vs Sikkim in 2024.

- England reached 150 in 9 overs, the second-fastest in men’s T20Is, behind Turkey’s 8.3 overs against Bulgaria.

- Phil Salt and Jos Buttler became only the second opening pair in men’s T20Is (with ball-by-ball data) to score fifties in 20 or fewer balls, after Romania’s Taranjeet Singh and Ramesh Satheesan in 2021.
