What a cracking fixture at SCG! There's a bit in it for everyone, and the BBL legends have put on a fabulous display. Smith and Abbott put on solid performances to overshadow the late surge from the Scorches' leader, Ashton Turner.
For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ajay Pal Singh and scorer/analyst Bishal Mandal, who brought you all the live action of this thrilling contest. We will meet again. Until then, its cheers!

Steve Smith (POTM): "It was good fun. Actually, I was all over the place early on in my innings. Then something clicked, started to hit the middle of the bat. It was a good game in the end, got a little too close.
Moises kept his cool in the last over and got us home. It is a wonderful place to play, I love playing here in SCG.
Yeah, it should be good. Going to Adelaide, a nice wicket to bat there. Then back here at the SCG. Yeah, he (David Warner) has been batting nicely, hopefully he has an off day and Sixers can get a win.
Player of the Match: Steve Smith
2:27 PM IST & 7:57 PM Local Time: Sydney Sixers win a run-fest at the SCG by 14 runs! It was a proper rollercoaster, with Perth Scorchers falling short in the end despite a thunderous knock from their skipper, Ashton Turner!
Earlier, after being put into bat first, Sydney Sixers rode on a Steve Smith masterclass, as the local lad batted through the innings and scored his third BBL century to propel the Sixers to a huge 220/3 in 20 overs. The hosts lost a couple of wickets in the first half of the innings and were slow-moving, with the Scorchers bowling tight lines and lengths.
Henriques shifted the momentum in his side's favour with a vibrant knock, adding a match-defining 100-plus stand for the third wicket alongside Smith, who shifted gears like a pro. Smudge was lucky a couple of times and made most of the missed opportunities to pummel the visitors with his audacious strokeplay. After the dismissal of Henriques, Ben Dwarshuis came in and hit a few lusty blows to open the floodgates at both ends and hammer the Scorchers to all parts of SCG.
Finn Allen and Sam Fanning started decently, but Sean Abbott got going in the final over of the powerplay to push the tourists on the back foot. Fanning and Cooper Connolly flashed away with timely boundaries and kept ticking the scorecard at a good pace. It required Abbott to come back in the attack and break the partnership. The Scorchers took the Power Surge, but it didn't go in their favour as the hosts took complete control of the game.
Ashton Turner had other ideas. The Perth skipper went berserk and kept his side in the contest until the very end, getting brilliant support from Matthew Spoors. Turner smashed a breathtaking fifty and remained unbeaten but failed to get his unit over the winning line. Moises Henriques bowled the final over, with two hard-hitters at the crease and them needing 23 runs to snap a record feat. The Sydney skipper nailed the role, holding the nerves and gave only 8 runs alongside picking up Spoors' wicket as Perth mustered only 206/7.
The most successful BBL bowler, Abbott, was the game-changer tonight with a four-wicket spell, while the rest of the bowling attack chipped in with timely breakthroughs.
With this win, Sydney Sixers climb to the top of the points table again, while Perth Scorchers make it tough for themselves in the top of the lower half of the points tally. Stay tuned for the presentation...
