Jimmy Peirson (Brisbane Heat, Player of the Match) - "The guys stayed there and we got the job done. We had our backs to the wall and we managed to beat the full strength Stars team. We did the basics really well. We continued to bowl well and managed to restrict them to 160. We were a bit scratchy perhaps but managed to get it done. Pleased to see Maxi (Max Bryant) back in the unit. Swepson did really well and it will be a big season for him this time."

4:53 PM IST & 10:23 PM Local Time| What an emphatic victory for the Brisbane Heat! Despite missing some key players, they put on a clinical performance away from home to kick off their campaign in style. Earlier in the day at the iconic MCG, the Heat won the toss and chose to chase. Xavier Bartlett struck early, sending Thomas Rogers back to the pavilion for a low score. Joe Clarke and Sam Harper then steadied the ship for the Stars, building a solid partnership in the middle and accelerating the innings.
Mitchell Swepson led his team brilliantly, orchestrating some tight bowling in the middle overs. The Stars struggled to maintain momentum after Tom Whitney broke the crucial 54-run partnership between Joe Clarke and Sam Harper.
At the halfway mark, the Stars were 76/2. A quickfire partnership between Stoinis and Cartwright for the 4th wicket set a solid platform. They opted to take the Power Surge early, but the Stars' skipper fell immediately after the Surge was taken.
The Stars struggled to keep the runs flowing, but a late cameo from Beau Webster (28* off 19)helped them post a competitive total of 162/6 in their 20 overs. Xavier Bartlett was the standout bowler for the Heat, finishing with impressive figures of 3/25.
In reply, Brisbane Heat started with a bang. Jack Wood and Jimmy Peirson brought up the first 50-run opening stand of the season, setting a solid foundation for their chase.
Hamish McKenzie provided the breakthrough the Melbourne Stars desperately needed, breaking the 55-run opening stand. This wicket gave the Stars a glimmer of hope as they looked to claw their way back into the game.
Jimmy Peirson's (72*) experience proved invaluable for the Brisbane Heat. Despite missing several key players due to injuries, they dominated the fixture and kickstarted their campaign with a convincing win.
A comprehensive 8-wicket victory for the Brisbane Heat at the iconic MCG marks a strong start to their campaign, while the Melbourne Stars suffer their second consecutive loss of the season.

3 THAT WILL BE THE GAME!!! THE BRISBANE HEAT WIN BY 8 WICKETS HERE AT THE MCG! It was bowled too full and way outside the line of off stump from Curran. Peirson reached out for it and managed to scythe it away over the backward point region. It went towards wide of third man and by the time the fielder cut it off, the batters came back for the third to seal the game.
