That brings us to the end of our coverage of the 2nd T20I between the West Indies and South Africa. The Windies take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series with a game to spare.
For now, this is Ajay Pal Singh signing off on behalf of my co-commentator AkshayaKrishna Polya and scorer/analyst Ashok Dayma who brought you all the live updates from this fixture. We will meet again, until then good bye.
Rovman Powell (West Indies Captain): "I think how we came back when we were put under pressure was the best positive from this game. We were under pressure when they were going strong in the powerplay. I had a meeting with the guys after the first six overs. I just told them to breathe. No matter how good the wicket is, if you bowl good balls, it will do a bit.
(On Shepherd) When you give guys opportunities and back them, they can do well.
Brandon King is our Number one opener, and he is not here. He was leading us in the last T20I series against the same team. Alick Athanaze is a good player. Feels pretty excited to see him perform.
It's always good to beat such a good team. They are a quality team. Nevertheless, they are a Test-playing nation, and to beat them feels special.
It (crowd) has become a regular here in Trinidad. We are forever grateful to the people of Trinidad."
Aiden Markram (South Africa Captain): "I think somewhere around the middle overs (the balance of the game shifted). Some good improvement from the last game. In the back end, they made scoring tough for us. Looking forward to come up with a plan in the next game.
His (Lizaad Williams) skillset is there for the world to see. I am glad he could get a game today and probably will continue. He's a proper competitor
Yeah, it is tough to put a finger on it (learnings from this series) right now. It shows how much experience counts (on fielding a relatively young side). We need to identify areas in bowling and batting where we can improve. One thing as a country we can guarantee is that we will come in with a never-say-die attitude."
Romario Shepherd (POTM): "I am pleased with my performance. After that first T20I, I had to make a comeback. It's a similar plan to the first T20I, but I executed it better today.
I just took one ball at a time. I was rushing a bit in the previous T20I; today, I just kept calm and executed it properly. It took it ball by ball and paid attention to my execution. In T20 cricket, you can't come back by thinking about your past performances.
I executed better today. My role is to come, and try and hit as much as possible. I just bowled stump-to-stump. I executed the slower ones well. Just what the team needed. Every day can't be the same. You get the information about the wicket and you need to bowl accordingly. Even the best of the bowlers go for runs. Happy to give my best to the team."
