That is the coverage of the Eliminator of Global T20 Canada. For now, this is me Hrutuja Deshmukh signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Aditya Agarwal, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur brought you all the live action of this fixture. We will meet again. Until then, cheers!
The skipper of Bangla Tigers Mississauga, Shakib Al Hasan refused to play for the 1 over per side match which was going to be conducted by the match officials and he did not go for the toss. As this goes against the rules of ICC, hence Bangla Tigers have been eliminated from the tournament, and the Toronto Nationals automatically qualify for the Qualifier 2 facing Brampton Wolves.
05:38 AM IST and 08:08 PM Local Time | The match has been called off due to wet outfield. Bangla Tigers Mississauga will play the Qualifier 2 with Brampton Wolves, as they finished above Toronto Nationals in the points table. Toronto National's campaign has unfortunately come to an end
5:00 AM IST and 7:30 PM Local Time: Scratch the previous update! Still, there are a few areas of concern. Toss has been delayed again due to wet outfield.
4:35 AM IST and 7:05 PM Local Time: BREAKING: We have good news, folks! Finally, we have some action. Toss at 4:40 AM IST and 7:10 PM Local Time. Match Starts at 5 AM IST and 7:30 PM Local Time!
IT'S ONE OVER MATCH! A Super Over or you can it as a shootout!
Hrutuja - I agree with Akshaya, the committee should have known better. With oncoming rain, it was necceasry to keep reserve day. Or even the Tournament could have possibly taken place someplace else if it is raining here in Brampton!
Aditya - Hello Akshaya, and to everyone tuning in across the globe. I agree with your point, I personally reckon knowing the tentative weather around the ground, we can have reserve days and better draining facilities so that we can get some cricketing action.
Akshaya: Hello guys - Aditya and Hrutuja! Well, while we keep our fingers crossed for some action at the CAA Centre, a thought comes to mind. You do all the hard work throughout the tournament and get to the playoffs, only to go back home without even getting a chance to compete. If it happens with the Toronto Nationals, it would be a real shame!
What could have been done to make it more encouraging for the franchises? A reserve day, schedule the tournament in multiple venues if available, shift the schedule according to the weather or just say, hard luck, Nationals, you could have played even better and finished ahead of Bangla Tigers Mississauga.
