That's all from our live coverage of the ODI Series Opener between India and England at Nagpur. A comprehensive 4-wicket victory for Team India, chasing down the target with 68 balls to spare. England will need to pull up their socks in the 2nd ODI, as it's now a must-win game for the Jos Buttler-led side to stay alive in the series!

For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ajay Pal Singh who, along with scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYEπŸ‘‹
Shubman Gill (POTM): "Just trying to be positive. There was a little bit in the wicket for the pacers with the new ball. The thought process was not to go on the back foot and play some good cricketing shots.

Yeah, definitely. When a player comes like that and takes the game on, it puts the opposition on the back foot. Obviously it was a good decision on his part and it helped me.

Ahh, I think when I was batting on 70 odd, the pull towards mid wicket was my favourite shot. When the spinners were bowling, odd ball was turning.

For pacers, some balls were coming on, some were sticking. We had the plan to score square off the wicket.

(on his role as vice-captain) In batting, not much, while on the field. I just try to observe Rohit bhai how he reads the game and if I have some suggestions, I can give it to him."

Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "Yeah, pretty happy. We all knew that we are coming off from a long time playing in this format. It was important for us to regroup as quickly as possible, try and understand what was required from each one of us. I though right from the beginning, we were very much what it was expected from us. Obviously it did not start off well as their openers batted really well but I feel we have made a good comeback.

Yeah look, in this format, you will always have a chance to make a comeback. There will be phases when things will drift away from you but you need to have the skillset to pull things back. The credit goes to the bowlers with the way they bowled and we have done a brilliant job to pull things back. We were really good in the field as well.

(On Axar Patel) No look, we wanted a leftie in the middle order, it was pretty simple for us. We wanted to take on the two spinners in that middle phase. We all know how good Axar has been with the bat. He has proved it time and again, really happy with his performance and also the partnership with Shreyas.

Nothing specific. Overall as a team, I just want us to keep doing the right things as much as possible. We want to tick as many boxes as we can in all the departments. We did something similar today. Although I felt we shouldn't have lost so many wickets in the backend but guys have been trying their best to put pressure on the opposition."

Jos Buttler (England Captain): "Yeah, obviously disappointed not to win the game. I think we got to a great start but then lost four wickets in quick time. If we had 40-50 runs extra, the way the wicket played in the end, it could have been crucial.

Yeah, this is not how we wanna play. We want to keep the pressure on the opposition. Keep the momentum going for as long as possible. It has been the same through the T20s and today.

No, I think guys started well. We got them 30/2 today. Credit to Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer for putting on a fine partnership.

Play better for longer, the things we are doing right, we want to do it for a bit longer. When we get the momentum, we have to extend that momentum for a bit longer."
