Milestone
A comprehensive victory for Washington Freedom and they secure their place in top-two. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Time to wrap up this coverage. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee and scorer/analyst Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. CHEERS!
Steven Smith (Washington Freedom Captain): "I think we are just getting better and better as the tournament goes on. Travis Head has been unbelievable on these slow wickets. Jasdeep, Lockie, and Marco have all been very good.

Everyone is training hard and preparing for their roles and scenarios. There's a great vibe in the group, and securing a top-two spot is exciting.

(On Jasdeep Singh) He has exceeded expectations, picked up big wickets, and stuck to the plan. He has a bright future ahead."
Faf du Plessis (Texas Super Kings Captain): "Look, I think they did really well in the powerplay. We expected that with Travis Head out there. We pulled it back from 220 odd. First 6-7 overs of the chase was good. But we lost it in the middle overs and cluster of wickets did not help. I got out and that was the turning point.

Resources wise we do not have quick bowlers. We had to bowl Noor to Maxi and it was about who is the best option against who.

It's one innings away. Runs are always confidence. We are doing well and the pressure is on us. Hope we do well against Orcas and the middle order gets into playoffs. After that another tournament starts.

I think I am in good flow and that's why I am scoring runs. It's about the preparation that we have made so far and I want to respect that and keep it going. That will be my aim. Let's hope we bounce back in the coming game."
Jasdeep Singh (Most Valuable Player of the Match): "I'm just enjoying myself and expressing my game. I didn't expect to be here for two weeks. The support staff is excellent, and Smudge (Steve Smith) and Ferguson are brilliant—they keep backing me. The wicket was a bit too paced. Faf was going well, so going off-pace was probably the right call at that stage. I watched Lockie in the previous over, and Smudge made it clear to me."
Most Valuable Player of the Match: Jasdeep Singh.
Play of the Day: Steve Smith.
Power Hitter of the Match: Faf du Plessis (315 feet).
Time for the presentations.
Travis Head (Washington Freedom): "Yes, I watch the ball hard and react to it. Had momentum and just gave the team the start and maximise the powerplay and that's my role and job. I feel like going hard when the wicket is doing a bit and maximise the powerplay. It was getting slower and took risks in the powerplay. Got to take risks. I felt the wicket was good. Used wicket and good that we batted first. Spin was going to play a factor later on and that's what it happens. Keep relaxing and mentally should be up for it and then see how it goes. We are used to this and happy we are doing well so far."
9:32 AM IST, 11:02 PM Local Time: That's it! Texas Super Kings are bundled out for 164 runs in 19.5 overs and Washington Freedom win by a massive 42-run margin. Steve Smith and Co. are the only undefeated team in this MLC, extending their winning fifth game on the trot. Additionally, they confirmed their place in the top two with this win.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Travis Head provided a rollicking start for Washington Freedom in the powerplay. The southpaw came out all guns blazing and smashed his fifty off just 20 balls.

However, the debutant, Noor Ahmad removed Head for 53 runs and drew the first blood for TSK. Washington lost a couple of more wickets in quick succession as Andries Gous (15) and Rachin Ravindra (1) departed cheaply.

Glenn Maxwell contributed 34 runs off 23 balls before falling prey to Noor. Steven Smith played sensibly and contributed 57 runs off 40 balls, while Obus Pienaar’s unbeaten 33 runs helped Washington post a mammoth 206/5 in 20 overs.

Noor Ahmad starred with the ball for TSK, claiming three wickets. Dwayne Bravo chipped in with a couple of wickets to his name.

In pursuit of 206 runs, Devon Conway and Faf du Plessis added 37 runs for the first wicket, with Conway departing for 16 runs. du Plessis paired up with Aaron Hardie and smashed the fastest fifty in this MLC, reaching the milestone off just 19 balls. The duo added 50+ runs for the second wicket but failed to convert it into a big one as Hardie departed for 19 runs off 13 balls. Faf struggled to time the ball after reaching his fifty and departed for 55 runs off 32 balls.

Following the wicket of skipper du Plessis, TSK started losing wickets at regular intervals and failed to stage a comeback in the game as they were bundled out for 164 runs in 19.5 overs, falling 42 runs short of
Washington's total.

Rachin Ravindra starred with the ball for Washington, finishing with his career-best figures of 4/16. Jasdeep Singh and Glenn Maxwell bagged three wickets each.

Stay tuned for the presentation....
19.5 R Ravindra to C Savage
W Appeal and up goes the finger. Savage reviews this one. Fuller length angling in straight, Savage goes for the reverse sweep and misses as the ball hits the pads. Fair delivery. There is no bat involved. Over to Ball Tracking which shows Three Reds. The decision stands and the review is lost, but it does not matter as TSK are bowled out for 164 in 19.5 overs. A win for Washington Freedom by 42 runs as they consolidate their position at the top of the points table.
19.4 R Ravindra to Zia-ul-Haq
1 Fuller length around off, Zia drives it down to long-off for a single.
