That's all from this one-sided contest, folks! Barbados Royals start their CPL 2024 journey with a win, while Antigua & Barbuda Falcons have yet to win a game in the season, losing three games on the trot. Time to wrap up this coverage. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentator Ajay Pal Singh and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. CHEERS!
Rovman Powell (Barbados Royals Captain): "Yeah, it is good to start the CPL campaign the way we did. I opted to bowl and the bowlers justified the decision. Quinny batted well and so did Rahkeem.  First game, the players look sharp and ready. It is just now for us to do what we did in this game.

It is always good. Once we have Quinny in the team, it becomes easier. My suggestion to the youngsters in the team is to pick his brain and learn from his experience."
Chris Green (Antigua & Barbuda Falcons Captain): "Yeah, we were completely outplayed in all aspects. We fell short with the bat. Their bowlers performed exceptionally well, and the way Quinny and Cornwall batted in the powerplay really set the tone.

I don’t think our bowling was too bad, but we’ve seen what those two can do both in CPL and around the world. Sometimes, you just have to tip your hat and acknowledge a well-played game. There’s still a long way to go in this tournament.

We need to raise our game and play better cricket. We need to improve with the bat, and I don't think we're too far off with the ball. It's not time to panic or retreat. Instead, we need to step up, play aggressive and passionate cricket, and show our home fans what we’re capable of.

(On parents) Yeah, they're loving it here. It's their first time in the Caribbean, and they enjoyed a round of golf yesterday. They’re really appreciating the atmosphere Antigua provides. It’s great to have them here with me."
Quinton de Kock (Player of the Match): We knew it was a good wicket. Was just looking to put Big Jimbo (Rahkeem Cornwall) on strike and let him do what he does best in the powerplay. It is only our first game, I love batting with him. I could use to get him on strike and he can do the hard work.

Time for the post-match presentation....
10:50 PM IST, 1:20 PM Local Time: A comprehensive victory for Barbados Royals to kickstart their CPL campaign, as they dumped Antigua & Barbuda Falcons by nine wickets with 27 balls to spare. Conversely, Antigua & Barbuda Falcons have lost three games on the trot.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Antigua & Barbuda Falcons got off to a shaky start, losing Kofi James, Fakhar Zaman, Sam Billings, Imad Wasim, and Shamar Springer cheaply and were reeling at 74/5 in the 11th over of the innings. Jewel Andrew and Chris Green started the rescue mission and added 41 runs for the sixth wicket. Andrew anchored the innings but fell just 2 runs short of his fifty. Captain Green added a valuable 20 off 16, while Roshon Primus remained unbeaten on 16 off 10, guiding the team to a total of 145.

Obed McCoy was the standout bowler for the Royals, taking 3/31. Maheesh Theekshana and Jason Holder each claimed two wickets, while Naveen ul Haq and Dunith Wellalage took one wicket apiece.

In response to the Falcons’ 145 runs, Quinton de Kock and Rahkeem Cornwall went berserk from the outset and provided a rollicking start to the Royals. The dynamic duo added 80 runs for the first wicket in just 6.3 overs, with Cornwall falling prey to Imad Wasim after scoring 34 runs off 20 balls.

Shamarh Brooks joined de Kock at number three, and the pair maintained a steady scoring rate. De Kock remained unbeaten on 87, finishing the game with a six, while Brooks added an unbeaten 21.

Falcons bowlers looked mediocre against the Royals openers and leaked too many runs in the powerplay ultimately failing to bounce back in the contest.

Stay tuned for the presentation....
