So, that's it from the coverage of the first ODI between India and South Africa at Johannesburg. Both teams will be back on Tuesday for the second ODI. Do join us for that and stay tuned for more cricketing actions across the globe in our network across formats.

Signing off here is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentator AkshayaKrishna Polya alongside scorer/analyst Raju Khariya and Paras Yadav. Special mentions also to Deepak Prakash and Arijit Kundu for their contribution in this game. Until next time, goodbye and CHEERS from us.
KL Rahul (India Captain): "I am very happy about winning the game today. It is my first ODI win as a captain here in South Africa. The last time I was here as captain, we failed to win a game. Really happy with the result.

We didn't expect this to be that quick. It's an unexpected one, but we will take it. We have seen in the T20s that it did help the spinners. So we were expecting Kuldeep and Axar to get to the game early, but it was completely different from what we expected coming into this game.

There was a lot of help in the wicket early, and the boys bowled really well. The boys did well to stay disciplined. The ball kept moving around.

It's just how cricket has been played in the last couple of years. You have to rest some players, you prioritise one format every now and then. Now it is T20s and Tests. But we want to take guys who are doing their best. Everyone's doing well in first class and IPL, too, so good for them to get a taste too."
Arshdeep Singh (Player of the Match): "I feel little sore and loving this moment. Thank God and support staff for their support. I did not know about that. After 3-4 overs, I was gasping for breath.

Personally, feels great. Performing for my country gives me pleasure and thank Rahul Bhai. Lot of hard work behind the scenes and thank you for the family.

It's about enjoying this moment and when we go to the next game it's all about sticking to the process and continue the good work that we are doing. Happy with the win, but this is just one game."
Player of the Match: Arshdeep Singh.
Aiden Markram (South Africa Captain): "Yeah, tough one, Pom (Pommie Mbangwa). Naturally, winning the toss and batting first, we wanted to put a really, really good score on the board. Credit should go to the Indian bowlers for the way they bowled.

We failed to build partnerships and lost wickets regularly. We were behind the game from the get-go and failed to find a way to crawl our way back into it.

It's a day game. The first five, six overs did something, and we expected it to do a bit, to be honest. Today, it lasted a little longer, and they bowled well. As I said, the credit should go to them for the way they bowled.

It comes down to individuals batting out there. It is up to them to asses and then plan it forward. We need to take smart options in a given situation. We encourage guys to be positive but also choose smart options. We'll have to assess.

Probably not Pom
(Pommie Mbangwa) (on batting first again on this pitch and chuckles)."
