Ryan Rickelton’s persistence paid off when he made his Test debut against Bangladesh in March 2022, at Kingsmead, marking the start of his journey in the longest format.

His breakthrough moment came in December 2024, when he smashed his maiden Test century against Sri Lanka. 

This was followed by an even bigger milestone in January 2025, when he registered his first Test double century—an astounding 259 against Pakistan at Newlands, putting South Africa in a commanding position.

Despite making his debut on March 18, 2023, Ryan Rickelton’s ODI career also took off in 2025, as he scored his maiden century in South Africa’s ICC Champions Trophy opener against Afghanistan.

Ryan Rickelton T20I Career

Ryan Rickelton made his T20I debut for South Africa against the West Indies on May 23, 2024 at Sabina Park.

Rickelton was part of South Africa’s squad that reached the final of the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. He has also been named in their 2026 T20 World Cup team, where he played two vital knocks against Afghanistan and the West Indies. However, the Proteas lost the semifinal to New Zealand, breaking their unbeaten streak.

Ryan Rickelton Franchise Career

Beyond international cricket, Ryan Rickelton has made waves in franchise leagues. He starred for MI Cape Town in the SA20 League, accumulating 676 runs, including five half-centuries. 

His consistent performances caught the attention of IPL franchises, and in March 2025, he made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians against the Chennai Super Kings.

In his maiden IPL season, the South African opened the innings alongside Rohit Sharma. He formed an astonishing pair with Hitman, scoring 388 runs with a strike rate of 150.97.
