Player Bio

Very few women cricketers from the Netherlands have made their mark in the international cricket circuit, and one of them is Sterre Kalis. The Hague-born cricketer started playing cricket as a five-year-old, but nobody predicted that she would make her international debut against Scotland at the age of 14.

After a few years, Kalis decided to move to Australia from the Netherlands in order to polish her cricketing skills. She first trained and played in Tasmania and then in December 2018, she signed a rookie contract with Sydney Thunders. After spending some years playing in Australia, Kalis later moved to England to play county cricket.

Ahead of this year's English season, Kalis was signed on loan by Warwickshire for the women's one-day cup and T20 Blast competition. In 2025, she played some wonderful knocks for Warwickshire and her parent club, Yorkshire, in various tournaments.

The batter once held the record for the highest individual score in women's T20I cricket when she made 126 against Germany in 2019. Kalis is the joint-third fastest player to make 1000 runs in women's T20Is.

Kalis, who aims to get her country to qualify for the World Cup someday, is a big fan of South African great Jacques Kallis.

Interestingly, Kalis was also very much into field hockey but decided to give it a miss when she started getting the opportunities to travel abroad and play cricket tournaments at a young age.

Apart from cricket, Kalis worked for the Netherlands govt health department during the COVID-19 pandemic. She helped the department with the vaccination programme.
