The first woman cricketer to be accepted at the Lancashire cricket academy, Cross has had a long cricketing journey that started in 2006. A right-arm medium-fast bowler, Cross started playing cricket at a very young age and was named the Eversheds Most Promising Young 'Player of the Year' in 2007. 

The daughter of former footballer, David Cross, made her England U-21 debut in 2007 and it wasn’t until 2013 that Cross got a chance to represent her country at the international level. 

She was called up to the England squad for their 2011 tour to Australia. However, the bowler did not get a chance to play a single game on the tour.

Finally in 2013, Cross earned her chance to make her much-awaited international debut in the Tri-Nation T20 series in West Indies. She played in the 6th match of the tournament and took a solitary wicket in the match. 

The Manchester-born was drafted in the England squad for the ODI leg of the series against the Windies. Her debut game was washed out, and it was in the second game where Cross rose to prominence. The Lancashire cricketer took 4 for 51 against the West Indies, a performance which earned her the 'Player of the Match' award. 

The co-host of hit podcast 'No Ball' made the world notice her hostile bowling in the one-off Test against Australia in January 2014. took the new ball and troubled the opposition at will, taking up 3 wickets at the top, and finishing with figures of 6 for 70 in the match.

In 2015, she was signed by the Brisbane Heat as one of the two overseas players for the inaugural season. 

She bagged her maiden five-wicket haul in international cricket against New Zealand in 2015. She took 5 for 24 to rattle the White Ferns top order.

Despite performing well at the international level, Cross was left out of the England squad for the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup. 

In 2019, the Brisbane Heat pacer was awarded the central contract by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). 

Cross has been an excellent servant of England cricket for the past 8 years now. She has excelled really well in the shorter formats of the game. Still in her prime, Cross will certainly look to improve her death bowling and will be looking to nurture the youngsters for the future.
