The tall, lanky Barbadian spinner Zishan Motara has been able to impress with his leg spin at the West Indies domestic circuit. Motara made his first-class debut for the Combined Campuses and Colleges side in 2024. Interestingly, in his second match only, Motara took 7 for 108 in the first innings of the game.

Next season, he switched his first-class side to the West Indies Academy.

The 2006-born cricketer looked up to his father Zahir, who also plays cricket as a leg spinner. Interestingly, the father-son duo squared off against each other in the final of the BCA Super Cup in 2024, where the junior Motara's side eventually lifted the trophy.

Motara has Indian roots as his grandfather came to Barbados from India when the latter was only 20 years old.

The Barbados-born player started off as a pacer but eventually shifted to leg spin after watching videos of the legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne. Apart from bowling, Motara is a useful lower-order batter as well.

Motara hasn't made his CPL debut yet and is expected to make one after being picked by the Barbados Royals for the 2025 season.
