Player Bio

If there’s one name Queensland cricket fans will be hearing a lot more of in the coming years, it’s Lily Ava Bassingthwaighte — the teenage pace sensation turning heads with her raw speed, accuracy, and fearless attitude.

Born on 25 March 2007, Bassingthwaighte might still be in her teens, but her cricketing maturity already shines through every time she takes the field. A proud product of All Hallows’ School in Brisbane and Queensland’s elite pathway system, she quickly carved out a reputation as one of Australia’s brightest young fast-bowling prospects.

The 2024–25 season has been a whirlwind for the teenager. She made her WNCL debut for Queensland Fire, where her lively pace and ability to extract bounce drew praise from senior teammates and opponents alike. That breakout domestic season paved the way for her next big milestone — a Brisbane Heat contract for WBBL|11. Initially part of the T20 Spring Challenge setup, where she featured in five matches, Lily impressed enough to earn a full call-up ahead of the WBBL season.

And if that wasn’t enough, December 2024 brought an even bigger honour — selection in Australia’s squad for the 2025 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia. On the global stage, Lily delivered under pressure, producing a standout performance of 3/7 against Sri Lanka and showcasing her ability to strike early and often with the new ball.

Now, with her first WBBL campaign underway, Bassingthwaighte joins a potent Brisbane Heat pace attack already packed with quality. What sets her apart is her fearless approach — she loves hitting the pitch hard, challenging batters with genuine pace, and bringing energy every time she runs in.

At just 17, she’s only scratching the surface of her potential. But if her rapid rise so far is anything to go by, Lily Bassingthwaighte isn’t just one for the future — she’s one for right now.
