Aidan O’Connor has quietly emerged as one of Tasmania’s promising young all-rounders, combining solid batting with reliable right-arm medium pace. A product of Tasmania’s local cricket system, O’Connor has honed his game through consistent performances for Riverside Cricket Club in the Northern Tasmania Cricket Association and the Greater Northern Raiders in the Cricket Tasmania Premier League. His steady progress through these pathways was recognised in 2023, when he was awarded a rookie contract with Tasmania.

O’Connor’s transition to senior domestic cricket gathered momentum during the 2024–25 season. He made his One-Day Cup debut for Tasmania against New South Wales on 5 February 2025, marking his entry into List A cricket. Just days later, he stepped onto the first-class stage in the Sheffield Shield, debuting against Victoria on 8 February 2025. Batting with maturity beyond his years, O’Connor top-scored in Tasmania’s first innings with a composed 53, announcing himself as a player capable of handling the demands of red-ball cricket at the highest domestic level.

On the international youth stage, O’Connor was part of the Australia Under-19 squad that went on to win the 2024 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa. Being involved in a championship-winning campaign added valuable experience to his development and further underlined his standing within Australia’s next generation of cricketers.

Heading into the 2025–26 season, O’Connor expands his experience in the shortest format after signing with the Sydney Thunder for the Big Bash League. The move offers him exposure to elite T20 cricket and an opportunity to test his skills alongside established professionals. With a strong grounding in Tasmanian cricket, a World Cup-winning Under-19 campaign behind him, and early signs of composure at the senior level, Aidan O’Connor continues to build a solid foundation for his domestic career.
