Player Bio

Vishen Sasmith Halambage is an exciting young opening batter from Sri Lanka. Cricket runs in his family—his father played first-class cricket, and his uncle has been actively involved in district cricket administration, which gave Halambage an early exposure to the game.

Halambage hails from a small town called Ambalangoda in the Galle district, but later shifted to Colombo with the intention of furthering his cricketing ambitions. He began playing seriously at a local cricket academy at the age of 12.

In domestic cricket, the 2005-born cricketer plays for Panadura Sports Club. He made his T20 debut in 2023 during the Major Clubs T20 Tournament and followed it up with a List A debut in the Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament later that year. His performances in these competitions have been noted for their maturity. In the 2025 season of the SLC Major Clubs T20 Tournament, Halambage had a stellar campaign and scored 73 in the final against the Colombo Cricket Club. However, despite all his heroics, Panadura Sports Club failed to lift the trophy.

At the international youth level, Halambage represented Sri Lanka in the 2023 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup in the UAE, where he showcased his talent against top regional sides.

Following consistent domestic performances, the 2005-born player earned his maiden national call-up for the senior team, being named in Sri Lanka's squad for the T20I series against Zimbabwe in September 2025. He didn't get a single game in the series, but in that same month, he achieved another major milestone in his cricketing career.

The young Sri Lankan was signed up for the SA20 league 2025/26 season by the Paarl Royals franchise. It was a major achievement for someone who has yet to play his first T20I match.

Off the field, Halambage balances cricket with his studies and enjoys spending time with family, drawing inspiration from his father and uncle.
