Player Bio

Tristan Luus is a young right-arm pace bowler from South Africa, making waves with his mix of raw pace, improving control, and appetite for big moments. Luus first drew attention playing for Northern Champions at the CSA Cubs Week, where he claimed two five-wicket hauls and finished as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament.

His breakthrough earned him a spot in the South Africa U-19 squad for the 2024 ICC U-19 World Cup. There, he delivered eye-catching spells, including 3/25 against Zimbabwe and 3/37 against India in the semi-finals, showing his ability to rise to big occasions.

His List A debut came in October 2023 while playing the South Africa Emerging side, while the first-class debut came in April 2025 when the pacer was part of the Dolphins squad.

In the 2024/25 season, Luus signed his first professional contract with the Dolphins. His CSA T20 Challenge debut was impressive, returning 2/30 in his first outing. He also gained valuable experience with the Emerging Academy, sharpening his death bowling and variations.

The same season proved to be a breakthrough, as he finished the CSA One-Day Cup as the leading seam bowler, collecting 14 wickets at an outstanding average of under 16, including a match-winning 2/32 in the final against Boland.

On the South Africa Emerging tour of Zimbabwe, the 2005-born player further underlined his red-ball credentials with a brilliant 4/34 in an unofficial Test.

For the 2025/26 season, the Dolphins upgraded his rookie contract to a full-time one.

In early 2025, Luus played for the MI Cape Town in the SA20 tournament. He played only one game but proved lucky for his franchise as they went on to win the tournament in that season. Later, the MI New York franchise called him as a replacement for Afghan star Rashid Khan for the Major Cricket League tournament.
