Player Bio

Muhammad Jawadullah is a left-arm pace bowler who represents the United Arab Emirates in international cricket. After moving to the UAE from his place of birth in Pakistan, he quickly established himself as one of the nation’s brightest bowling prospects, making his T20I debut against Afghanistan in February 2023. A few months later, he broke into the One-Day International squad, earning his debut against the West Indies in June 2023.

No one had wondered Jawadullah would go on to play international cricket, as he had first come to the UAE to work as an electrician at a shooting club. “Balancing a nine-hour shift as an electrician with regular cricket matches was incredibly tough. I worked during the day and played cricket in the evenings, making it my daily routine," recalls Jawadullah in an interview with the Hindustan Times.

Jawadullah was a regular in tennis ball cricket, but his life turned when he participated in a nationwide talent hunt for bowlers in April 2022, organised under the watchful eyes of Robin Singh, the coach of the UAE national cricket team at that point in time.

Since his debut, Jawadullah has developed a reputation as a strike bowler in white-ball cricket. His ability to swing the new ball and deliver accurate spells at the death has made him a key figure in the UAE’s bowling attack. In a T20I game on the New Year's Eve in 2023, Jawadullah bowled a match-winning spell of 4/26 against Afghanistan.

In ODIs, he has appeared in multiple matches, taking wickets regularly and showing promise as a reliable seamer with best figures of 3 for 46.

Jawadullah first gained wider recognition through franchise cricket, representing the Sharjah Warriors in the inaugural DP World ILT20, where his left-arm pace added balance to the side. His performances in the league accelerated his rise to the national team, highlighting his ability to adapt to high-pressure situations. In an ILT20 game during the 2023/24 season, the 1999-born cricketer impressed everyone by bowling an extraordinary spell with figures of 3/5. The pacer credits the ILT20 exposure for propelling his career.

During the ILT20, he got a chance to rub shoulders with ex-Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir, from whom he learnt the art of the reverse swing.

Originally from Pakistan but now firmly rooted in the UAE cricketing system, Muhammad Jawadullah’s journey is one of determination and growth. With his pace, accuracy, and hunger for wickets, he is poised to remain a central figure in the UAE’s cricketing ambitions for years to come.
