Player Bio

Jordan Buckingham is one of the brightest fast-bowling prospects to emerge from South Australia in recent years — a right-arm quick known for his smooth rhythm, late movement, and impressive control with the red ball. Born on 17 March 2000, Buckingham has quickly built a reputation as a thinking bowler who combines pace with precision, capable of troubling even the most settled batters.

He made his first-class debut for South Australia in March 2022 against New South Wales during the Sheffield Shield season and immediately caught attention with his consistent lines and ability to extract bounce. Just a few months later, his progress earned him a spot in the Cricket Australia XI to face South Africa in a tour match, where he impressed with both skill and temperament.

The following year proved to be a breakthrough one for Buckingham. In April 2023, he was picked for the Australia A side to play New Zealand, where he claimed his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. His performances at the A level confirmed his standing as one of Australia’s next-generation fast bowlers. Later that year, he took 5 for 80 against Pakistan while representing the Prime Minister’s XI — a spell that turned heads across the domestic circuit.

Buckingham’s strong domestic form saw him named in the 2023–24 Marsh One-Day Cup Team of the Tournament, taking nine wickets in just three matches at an exceptional average of 13.88. His performances also led to overseas opportunities, first with Northamptonshire in 2023 and later with Yorkshire in 2025, where he was signed for four County Championship games.

In franchise cricket, Buckingham has already been part of several Big Bash setups. After serving as a replacement player for the Adelaide Strikers in BBL|12, he joined the Brisbane Heat during their BBL|13 title-winning campaigns. His rise continued when he was signed by the Sydney Sixers for the 2025 BBL season (BBL|15), where he is expected to play a key role with the new ball.

Across formats, Buckingham has played 29 first-class matches, taking 96 wickets at an average just below 30, along with 13 wickets in eight List A games. With his tall frame, sharp seam movement, and growing experience in both domestic and international settings, Jordan Buckingham is shaping up as one of Australia’s most exciting young fast bowlers — a player capable of leading the next generation of pace talent.
