Player Bio

Among the new generation of cricketers driving Kuwait’s rise in associate cricket, Bilal Mohammad Tahir stands out for his aggressive intent and natural flair at the crease. A left-handed batter and occasional leg-spinner, Tahir has become a vital cog in Kuwait’s top order.

Tahir grew up with a love for the game that took shape on the local grounds of Kuwait, where South Asian expatriate communities built a vibrant cricket culture. His sharp eye and quick footwork earned him a national call-up, and he made his T20I debut against Qatar in July 2019. Before that, he was even part of the Kuwait U-19 side as well.

Since making his T20I debut that year, Tahir has featured regularly in Kuwait’s side, turning into one of their most dependable stroke-makers. Though he has yet to score a half-century in the format, his strike rate is in the 130s.

In regional tournaments, Tahir’s performances have been instrumental in Kuwait’s push to establish itself among Asia’s emerging cricketing nations. His innings against Hong Kong and Nepal in the 2023 ACC 50-over events drew attention for his ability the counterattack quality bowling under pressure. One of his memorable innings came against Hong Kong in which the 1998-born cricketer smashed 87 runs from just 68 balls after coming in to bat at number 11. Chasing 245 to win, he almost won the match for his team from an impossible position of 110/9.

Such performances helped Kuwait make a mark in Asian cricket, which helped them earn the List A status in February 2024. The batter made his List A debut in the same month against Saudi Arabia.

A big breakthrough came for him in October 2025 when he was fetched by the Desert Vipers franchise for USD 10,000 at the ILT20 auction. Tahir will now be looking to make a name for himself in T20 franchise cricket.
