Player Bio

Asa Mark Tribe is a talented right-handed top-order batter from Jersey whose elegant stroke play and calm presence at the crease have marked him out as one of the most exciting young cricketers to emerge from the island. He bowls off-spin occasionally, but his batting has always been his strongest suit.

Growing up in St. Helier, Tribe developed a love for cricket at a very young age. He played for the Farmers Cricket Club in Jersey and then played for the national U-19 side.

His father encouraged his early cricketing journey. Interestingly, his elder brother Zak Tribe is also an international cricketer.

Alongside cricket, he pursued his education at Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he learned to balance his studies with sport.

Tribe made his T20I debut for Jersey in 2021 against Germany and soon showed his promise on the bigger stage. His ODI debut came in March 2023, and soon, he scored a match-winning, unbeaten 115 against Papua New Guinea.

County cricket soon beckoned, and he signed a rookie contract with Glamorgan later that year. He dominated in the Second XI, scoring heavily and being named their “Player of the Year.”

Tribe made his first-class debut for Glamorgan in a County Championship match against Leicestershire in August 2024. A rare feat for an associate nation player.

Then in June 2025, he made his maiden first-class century, scoring 107 against Leicestershire. Later, in 2025, he struck consecutive unbeaten List A centuries and went on to score a first-class double hundred against Northamptonshire, achievements that underlined his ability to adapt across formats.

On the day when he scored a first-class double century, Tribe was also drafted by Paarl Royals in the SA20 league for the 2025/26 season. "It feels great, to be honest...It feels like I can't really do much wrong at the moment and I'm really happy with how it's going," Tribe told BBC Sport on scoring a double ton and being picked for the SA20 tournament.

In fact, it was in August 2025 when the 2004-born batter scored three consecutive tons within a week in 50-over cricket. Two of them came for Glamorgan, while one was scored for Jersey. In the process, the Jersey star became the first man in Glamorgan CCC history to score consecutive unbeaten one-day centuries.

Off the field, Tribe enjoys golf, music, and spending time along the Jersey coastline, which he often describes as a grounding escape from the pressures of professional cricket.
