Player Bio

A solid wicketkeeper-batter, Seren Anna Smale, has made her name across English women's domestic T20 leagues.

Smale made her county debut for Cheshire against Yorkshire in 2019, when she was just 15-year-old. Her consistency led to her gaining a place in England's squad for the U-19 T20 Women's World Cup in 2023.

By September next year, the 2004-born cricketer made her international debut when she played a T20I against Ireland.

After that, Smale decided to get some Australian exposure as she played in the Queensland grade cricket. During that time, the Welsh cricketer played for the England A side as well in Australia.

In The Hundred competition, Smale is part of the Manchester Originals franchise.

Interestingly, Smale studied at a state-funded school where cricket was not part of the physical education lessons and the institution did not boast of cricketing infrastructure as is the case across the UK state schools. Yet she pursued with the game and even rejected a scholarship from a private school. Notably, most of the cricketers in England come from the private school system.

Smale, who also had a distinguished junior tennis career, considers Alyssa Healy and Jos Buttler as her cricketing heroes.
