Player Bio

Blake Nikitaras is an emerging Australian cricketer whose elegant stroke play and composure at the crease have made him one of New South Wales’ most promising batting talents. Born on 29 April 2000 in Oak Flats, Illawarra, Nikitaras comes from a sporting family — his father, Steve Nikitaras, also represented New South Wales in domestic cricket.

A stylish left-hander, Nikitaras first caught attention in grade cricket while turning out for St. George Cricket Club in the NSW Premier competition. However, his journey to professional cricket hasn’t been without setbacks. Ahead of the 2020–21 season, he suffered a serious ACL injury during a basketball game, forcing him into months of rehabilitation at the Australian Institute of Sport. The determination he showed through recovery became a defining part of his story.

Nikitaras made a strong return to the field in March 2022 when he debuted for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield. Against South Australia, he made scores of 44 and 56, displaying both technique and temperament under pressure — an effort that earned him a rookie contract with the state side for the 2022–23 season. Later that year, he was rewarded with a Big Bash League deal, joining the Sydney Thunder for KFC BBL|12.

Since then, Nikitaras has been gradually building his first-class career, compiling over 600 runs from 17 matches at an average just above 21. He’s also featured in List A and T20 cricket, continuing to develop his game across formats. With a calm head, natural flair, and strong work ethic, Blake Nikitaras represents the next wave of New South Wales talent looking to make a lasting mark on Australian cricket.
