Player Bio

From dreaming of wearing the India jersey to preparing to face them in the Asia Cup 2025, Samay Shrivastava’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable.

Born on March 13, 1991, in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Shrivastava progressed through India’s domestic age-group system and represented Madhya Pradesh in tournaments such as the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, with limited opportunities to break through in Indian cricket, he moved to Oman around 2020, a decision that paved the way for him to play international cricket.

A right-arm leg spinner and handy lower-order batter, Shrivastava made his Oman debut in 2022 and has since grown into a reliable member of their attack. His strength lies in controlling the middle overs, applying pressure, and picking up key breakthroughs. With the bat, he has chipped in with small but valuable contributions down the order.

Domestically, he has featured for sides like Qurum Thunders and Oman A, sharpening his skills before breaking into the senior team. His rise has also inspired several players from Madhya Pradesh to consider Oman as a pathway to international cricket.

For Oman, Shrivastava brings experience and consistency; for himself, the Asia Cup 2025 marks a poignant chapter — playing against the Indian team he once aspired to join.
