Player Bio

A steady middle-order batter who can roll his arm over with part-time off-spin, Karan Sonavale has been part of Oman’s national setup since 2024.

Born on June 12, 1994, Sonavale made his ODI debut against Scotland in July 2024 before featuring in the League 2 fixtures against the Netherlands and UAE. While his early scores have been on the lower side, he has shown the ability to hang in under pressure and play useful cameos down the order. In the shorter format, he impressed with a 20-run knock against Kuwait and chipped in with double-figure scores against UAE and Qatar, underlining his role as a batter who can steady the innings when required.

Although primarily recognised for his batting, Sonavale’s off-spin has also proved handy in patches — notably his figures of 1 for 1 against the Netherlands in ODIs, one of the most economical spells for Oman in the competition.

Representing the Amerat Royals domestically, Sonavale brings experience and versatility to the squad. For Oman, he offers balance in the middle order and the flexibility of an extra bowling option, making him a dependable team player as he looks to cement his place with stronger performances.
