Player Bio

Mehran Mumtaz is a young left-arm orthodox spinner whose rise from humble origins to national acclaim reflects determination and talent.

Mumtaz was first influenced by fast bowlers, especially Mohammad Amir, while growing up in Rawalpindi. But he switched to slow left-arm orthodox bowling, which has shaped his career.

The tweaker balanced his fondness for cricket with his job, working with his brother in daily markets near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to fund his cricketing aspirations.

Mumtaz is recognized for his deceptive flight and subtle variations, which allow him to perform well in all forms. His potential as a match-winner is highlighted by his ability to bowl economically, particularly in T20s, and make critical breakthroughs.

He made his debut for Northern (Pakistan) in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 2021–2022, conveying his remarkable performance ever since. After making the cut, Mehran Mumtaz showed outstanding results in domestic cricket across all formats.

Mumtaz was first called up to the Pakistani national team for the Test series against England in October 2024.

Furthermore, the spinner played for Peshawar Zalmi during the 2024 PSL season. During that season, he showcased the art of bowling in powerplays, alongside bowling in the middle phase.
