Player Bio

A talented all-rounder, Ruth Johnston is an Australian women’s cricketer who plays for the Hobart Hurricanes Women in the WBBL and also plays for Queensland in the Women’s National Cricket League.

A right-arm off-break bowler with an ability to chip in with useful runs, Johnston was called up to the Queensland squad during the 2020-21 WNCL season. She did not feature in any of the matches, but the following season she signed her first professional contract with Queensland.

Hobart Hurricanes were in search of a genuine all-rounder and Johnston was perfect for that role. She was eventually roped in by the Hurricanes ahead of the 2021-22 WBBL season. Johnston made her much-awaited debut for the Hurricanes in their opening contest against Melbourne Renegades.
