Player Bio

Evan Jones is a South African cricketer who has carved out a reputation as a versatile bowling all-rounder. A right-handed batter and right-arm medium pacer, Jones has become known for his ability to contribute with both bat and ball, particularly in the shorter formats of the game.

He made his domestic debut in 2019, featuring for Northerns in T20 cricket before quickly moving into first-class and List A formats the same season. Since then, Jones has represented multiple sides in South African domestic cricket, including Northerns, Northern Cape, and the Lions. The 1996-born pacer's big breakthrough came with the rise of the SA20 League, where he has represented the Paarl Royals and Joburg Super Kings. However, in the 2025/26 season, he will be playing for the Durban Super Giants.

In the SA20 tournament, the Pretoria-born player has been especially effective with the ball, consistently picking up key wickets and maintaining useful economy rates. While his batting has often been in the lower middle order, he has shown the ability to play important cameos. In the 2023 edition of the tournament, Jones was very successful with the ball for the Paarl Royals.

Jones considers South Africa-born English legend Kevin Pietersen as his role model. However, he credits several people, including former Proteas cricketer JP Duminy, for helping him shape his approach to the game.

Still in the prime of his career, Evan Jones remains focused on consistency and progression, with the ambition of making a mark at higher levels of the game.
