Player Bio

Omair Bin Yousuf is a right-handed batter who represents Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League and has emerged as one of Pakistan’s most promising middle-order talents. Known for his composure under pressure, classical strokeplay, and adaptability across formats, Yousuf has steadily climbed the ranks through domestic consistency.

Yousuf was born on September 20, 1998, in Karachi. His father was a club cricketer who once dreamed of playing for the country. At the early age of seven, Yousuf was introduced to the 22-yard pitch of cricket.

He soon was enrolled at one of Karachi’s most prestigious coaching institutes, Asghar Ali Shah Institute of Cricket. He likes chasing, finishing games for the team, and hitting the winning shot. His reputation and talent earned him a spot in Karachi’s U16 and U19 teams, where he piled up runs with a mix of patience and precision.

Yousuf's debut First-class match came against ZTBL, where he scored a century, grandly announcing himself by a scintillating 135 in the first innings.

His journey has been fueled by patience and persistence. However, it was his wave of scoring runs across Pakistan that proved vital to be picked in the 2023 PSL Drafts by Karachi Kings. Initially benched, he debuted in PSL 2024, filling in for an injured Shoaib Malik.

Yousuf's batting is built on solid technique and mental resilience, thriving in an anchor role where he expertly rotates strikes with nudges and late cuts. His nimble footwork makes him highly effective against spin, while his temperament is reflected in a low dot-ball percentage in T20s. However, he struggles with power-hitting in death overs and remains vulnerable to short balls.

In the 2023 series against New Zealand A, Omair showcased his red-ball temperament, scoring 214 runs in four innings, including a resilient 89 and 62 in the four-day matches. He followed it up with an impressive performance against Bangladesh A in 2024, top-scoring with a commanding 112 in a one-off ODI. Recognizing his potential, PCB chief selector Wahab Riaz praised his ability, stating, “Omair has the temperament for Test cricket. His time will come.”
