Player Bio

The Barbadian bowling all-rounder Johann Layne has impressed everyone with his speedy bowling. The 2003-born cricketer is an Under-19 World Cup product– the batch of 2022. However, Layne sat on the bench for most of the games.

He made his first-class debut for the West Indies Academy in 2023 and slowly became a core part of the squad. In 2025, Layne took 27 wickets across 6 games in the four-day Championship. His exploits even impressed ex-West Indian fast bowler Ian Bishop.

Standing at over six feet, Layne is a product of Barbados-based Milton Lynch Primary School.

He made his CPL debut playing for the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in September 2023.

The hit-the-deck type bowler was surprised to see his name being added to the squad for the home Test series against Australia in June 2025. He even went on to admit that he was "surprised" to see his name on the list.

In 2025, he will be playing for the Barbados Royals franchise in CPL.
