Player Bio

The hard-hitting opening batter, Ella McCaughan, is a popular player in the women's county circuit. The opener is the first female to make a ton in the women's Vitality Blast T20 competition. She achieved this feat during a match between Hampshire and Essex in June 2025.

She has another feat to her name. At the age of 17, McCaughan was the youngest player in the 2020 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy to record two half-centuries.

However, she made her Sussex debut at the age of 15 in 2018. Since then, she has performed well with the bat for whichever team she has featured in.

The Seaford youngster was selected to join a series of camps at the ECB's National Cricket Performance Centre at Loughborough in November 2018. Over there, former Sussex Women’s assistant coach Ian Cox described her as "a shining example of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication".

McCaughan travelled to India for the England Women’s Academy development camp in Mumbai in 2019 in order to improve her technique on dry subcontinental pitches.

The opening batter presently plays for the Southern Brave franchise in The Hundred while her county side is Hampshire.
