Player Bio

A wily all-rounder, Salman Ali Agha is Pakistan’s captain in the shortest format. He is an emphatic middle-order batter, who also has the ability to deliver off-spin bowling.

In 2018, Agha was named in the Edmonton Royals squad ahead of the inaugural edition of the Global T20 Canada tournament. He finished the tournament as the leading run-getter, with 218 runs in six games.

Salman Ali Agha was included in Pakistan’s Test squad for their series against South Africa in 2021. However, the all-rounder did not feature in the Test series. He was again included in the Pakistan Test squad, this time for the series against Zimbabwe.

In May 2021, Agha was called up to Pakistan's ODI squad for the series against England, marking a significant opportunity to showcase his skills on the international stage. Having been in solid form domestically, he was expected to contribute both with the bat and ball. In the first ODI, he made a brief but impactful appearance, scoring 20 runs off 16 balls, although he didn’t get much of an opportunity with the ball.

During the tour of Sri Lanka, he was included in Pakistan's Test squad for the series. This tour proved to be a pivotal moment in his career, as he made his Test debut during the first Test at Galle.

In December 2022, Agha achieved a significant milestone in his career during the Test series against New Zealand. In the second Test of the series, he scored his maiden Test century, a remarkable feat that showcased his growth as a batter.

In November 2024, the all-rounder made his T20I debut against Australia at The Gabba, Brisbane. This debut marked a new chapter in his international career, as he stepped into the T20 format with a chance to prove his versatility as an all-rounder.

In February 2025, Agha was part of Pakistan's ODI series against South Africa, continuing his role as a dependable all-rounder in the limited-overs format.

Salman Ali Agha has been an active participant in the Pakistan Super League, representing Islamabad United and making valuable contributions as an all-rounder and moreover as a part-time captain.

After a debacle performance for Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup, Babar Azam was axed as the T20I captain and Salman Ali Agha received the captaincy starting from the T20I series against New Zealand.

Under Agha, Pakistan are forming a younger squad to challenge other nations in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
