Player Bio

A thrilling opener and a cunning wicket-keeper, Alexander Luke Davies is a professional cricketer who made his debut for Lancashire two days before his 17th birthday in 2011.

Davies made his List A debut in a 40-over game against Glamorgan in 2011 and subsequently made his first-class debut the following year against Surrey at the end of the 2012 Championship season.

Davies slowly graduated in different forms of cricket before cementing his spot in the squad. Due to the departure of Jos Buttler from the Lancashire squad for the 2014 Ashes series, Davies had plenty of opportunity in all forms of games.

He was awarded the Man of the Match trophy for his exemplary display opening the batting in the T20 Blast final against Northamptonshire as Lancashire lifted the trophy for the first time in the Club’s history. He hit 47 off 26 balls in a winning total of 166-7.

In 2016, Davies suffered a knee injury which severely limited his playing time and almost derailed his cricketing career, but he bounced back in style during the following year and has not looked back since. Regaining full fitness, Davies smashed three centuries and as many fifties amassing 916 championship runs, the best in Lancashire’s squad. He also claimed 48 dismissals behind the stumps, the third best haul in Division One.

After becoming a permanent member of the England Lions’ squad, he hit his maiden century against Indian A in 2019 for the Lions and also went on to have an exceptional T20 Blast season too, finishing as the tournament’s fourth highest run-scorer with 534 runs and notching his career-best, 94 not out against Leicestershire.

By now a senior member of the Lancashire team, Davies is all set to further strengthen his position to crack into the England’s squad in the upcoming years.
