Player Bio

A highly rated wicket-keeper batsman, Lewis David Mcmanus is a professional English cricketer for Hampshire and a product of their youth system as well. Hailing from Dorset, he first grabbed eyeballs when he was a part of Hampshire’s U-17 ECB 50-Over Cup-winning side in 2011. The youngster followed with some solid performances for the Hampshire Academy in 2012 and 2013, resulting in an England u-19s callup.

McManus soon made his first XI debut in the summer of 2015 against Yorkshire and was impressive in two appearances. He quickly became a regular of the senior side next year with a maiden century in a high-scoring Championship match against Surrey and followed up with three half-centuries demonstrating his potential. Still an integral part of Hampshire’s squad across all formats, he continues to showcase his ability with the big gloves and power-hitting batting lower down the order.

Mcmanus was a part of a controversial stumping in a Championship fixture against Leicestershire and was sanctioned by ECB and was given three disciplinary points for “misconduct”. At 26 years of age, he has been in the English domestic circuit for over 7 years and is now a much-improved cricketer in all aspects, securing his spot in all three formats at the Ageas Bowl.
