Player Bio

Patrick Kruger is a South African cricketer who has established a reputation as a reliable middle-order batter and a useful medium-pace bowler. Born on 3 February 1995, he first came into prominence during the 2015 Africa T20 Cup with Griqualand West and quickly made his mark with a fearless batting style. His breakthrough came in 2017 when he was named Africa T20 Cup Player of the Tournament, a recognition that firmly established him as one of South Africa’s brightest domestic prospects.

Kruger’s career gained further momentum in 2018 when he scored his maiden List A century for the Knights against the Cape Cobras. Over the years, he has represented several teams, including the Northern Cape, Free State, Knights, and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20, and was also part of the Paarl Rocks in the Mzansi Super League. Known for his ability to adapt across formats, he became Northern Cape’s leading run-scorer in the 2018 Africa T20 Cup with 200 runs in just four matches.

His consistent domestic performances eventually earned him a call-up to the South Africa team, and he made his T20I debut in May 2024 against the West Indies. He showcased his all-round ability with a memorable spell of 4 for 27 against Ireland later that year. In November 2024, he also featured against India, where he dismissed Suryakumar Yadav during a challenging over that drew plenty of attention.

Across formats, Kruger has been a steady performer with close to 3,000 first-class runs, over 1,700 List A runs and more than 2,000 T20 runs, alongside a healthy collection of wickets with the ball. His combination of power hitting, medium-pace bowling and years of domestic experience make him a valuable figure in both franchise and international cricket, with Sunrisers Eastern Cape currently benefiting from his all-round services.
