Player Bio

Dayyaan Galiem is a South African cricketer who has steadily built a reputation as a talented bowling all-rounder. A product of Rondebosch Boys’ High School, where former Proteas batter Gary Kirsten also studied, Galiem caught national attention at a young age with remarkable school cricket feats—once taking nine wickets for just one run in an innings. Such early performances highlighted his rare ability to influence games with both bat and ball.

Galiem is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He started his domestic career with Western Province before moving to the Titans.

His rise through the youth system saw him represent the South Africa Under-19 side, including at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh. He made his first-class debut for Western Province against Namibia during the 2016–17 season, quickly followed by an appearance in List A cricket.

Domestically, the 1997-born cricketer became a consistent performer. Known for his ability to swing the ball when conditions assist, he has also developed into a handy lower-order batter.

His breakthrough came in the 2024–25 season, when he was crowned Division 1 T20 MVP for his all-round contributions with bat, ball, and in the field. That same season, he earned his T20I debut for the Proteas in December 2024, marking the culmination of years of hard work. In his first T20I, he opened the bowling for the Proteas and took 2/21.

After representing the Joburg Super Kings and Paarl Royals in the SA20 league previously, the Cape Town-born pacer will be representing the Durban Super Giants franchise in the 2025/26 season.

Off the field, Galiem is admired for his professionalism, work ethic, and grounded nature. Coaches and teammates alike describe him as thoughtful and diligent, with a hunger to continually improve and establish himself at the highest level.
