Player Bio

Coming from an island that has produced various great cricketers, Barbados, Ramon Simmonds has all the qualities to go places in cricket. Simmonds played most of his age group cricket in Barbados and was even part of the Island nation's Under-17 side.

The left-arm pacer was selected in the West Indies' squad for the 2020 Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. Unfortunately, Simmonds and the West Indies were unable to create much of an impact in the tournament.

However, at home, he later saw success as he was part of the Barbados squad that won the 2021–22 West Indies Championship.

Seeing his potential, in 2022, the left-arm pacer was named in the inaugural batch of the CWI Emerging Players Academy for high-performance training and development sessions.

By September 2022, Simmonds made his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) debut for Barbados Royals. He was instrumental in taking the team to the final of that CPL edition. His teammate and ex-West Indies skipper Jason Holder heaped praise on Simmonds.

The pacer impressed the management so much with his variations and courage to bowl the difficult overs that they added him to their Paarl Royals side for the inaugural SA20 competition.

Later, he was also signed by the Nepal Premier League (NPL) franchise Lumbini Lions for the 2024 edition.

Simmonds credits his grandfather for pushing him to play cricket and make a career in it. His favourite cricketers are Sir Garfield Sobers, Mitchell Starc and Virat Kohli.
